INFOCUS ASIA WINS PRESTIGIOUS PEABODY AWARD FOR:

WHITE HORSE VILLAGE (DOCUMENTARY), BBC WORLD

The Peabodys are one of the prestigious journalism awards in America that honors the best names in broadcasting for their distinguished achievement and meritorious public service. In a landmark win, Infocus Asia adds this award to its growing list of international accolades.

White Horse Village, a documentary by IFA China’s director Al Go (for BBC World & BBC World News America) was recognized as one of the 35 best programs in electronic media for 2007. This award marks the first ever Peabody win for BBC World News America.

The citation for the award described the documentary as:

Uncommonly beautiful for a nightly news feature, but no less trenchant for being artful, it captured a rustic, sleepy inland village on the verge of obliteration by the Chinese government in its attempt to further the country’s economic miracle.

White Horse, a beautiful and probing feature segment of BBC America’s nightly newscast was recognized for illustrating the human and environmental toll of the Chinese government’s massive efforts to modernize its hinterlands.
